When finding a wedding dress, it is important to choose a dress with a neckline that complements your body type. With so many wedding dress necklines to choose from, deciding on the right one can be difficult. To help you with such fashion dilemma, here is a basic guide to dress necklines:
Bateau
The bateau is also called the boat neck. It’s similar to a straight neckline but with a slight curve in the middle. It flows with the curve of the collarbone. If you are small chested, this is the perfect neckline as it gives an illusion of a bigger bust.
Off The Shoulder
This open neckline hangs off the shoulders, accentuating your collarbone and shoulders. This is a flattering dress neckline is flattering for most body types. If you have fuller arms, you might want to avoid this neckline. Use this neckline if you are well endowed and have a pear shaped body figure.
Square
This neckline has a half square shape. If you are well endowed, this is a great neckline to show some cleavage without being too revealing.
Sweetheart
The sweetheart neckline is one of the most popular necklines that brides choose. It arcs over each breast and forms what looks like the top of a heart. Strapless or not, this type is flattering on most women especially the well-endowed ones.
Strapless
The strapless neckline is almost the same as the sweetheart neckline except for the arc on each breast. Being strapless, it enhances your beautiful shoulders and collarbone or your chest. If you are smaller chested, you might want to avoid this neckline and choose a V-neck type instead.
V-Neck
The V-shaped wedding gown is flattering on most body types. If you are smaller chested, you can choose a plunging neckline to create the illusion of a bigger bust. If you are full figured or have an hourglass figure, this neckline is the best choice.
